Christ’s Crucifixion: Suffering or Not?

Welcome to the Fortune Flourishing Fun “Forum” starting discussion on Christ’s crucifixion as a righteous sacrifice to take up God’s wrath for our sins…and/or as the flourishing climax to His miraculous life demonstrating the fortune of mankind’s inherent freedom from suffering.

Everyone is invited to comment on both scenarios. And we would love to see sincere sharing of thoughts and feelings from anyone and everyone of any faith or persuasion. In the future posts will explore other outstanding Bible stories such as the Last Supper.

Miceal Ledwith’s “How Jesus Became a Christ” Intro

“The first depiction of God crucified on a Cross, was the depiction of Orpheus, 3rd century before Christ. It’s sad to say for a very large part of the world’s population today, the central religious symbol is a person impaled in agony, on that instrument of torture. It’s little wonder that such a system should foster the belief that suffering is inevitable, or even desirable and good. And horror of horrors that it could be, in some warped way, seen as pleasing to God. And thus allow us to become so indifferent to suffering among the masses of humanity.

An empty cross symbolizes the descent of spirit into flesh and celebrates the evolution of that life back into its return. The crucifix by contrast only idealizes suffering and death, an attitude, which ultimately has to be said is not of God. Nothing misrepresents the teachings of Jesus more than the crucifix.” ~ Miceal Ledwith

Believing Jesus Suffered
is Like Believing the Earth is Flat

Fortune Flourishing Fun supports Ledwith’s shaking of conventional Christianity’s foundation. And we emphasize that believing Jesus suffered on the Cross is like believing the Earth is flat. Because 500 years before Christ, Greeks Pythagoras and Aristotle had calculated the Earth to be round. And it was Claudius Ptolemy (again, a Greek Philosopher, mathematician) around 140 AD who produced a map of it. But Medieval Christianity rejected Greek Theory without scientific proof to show that the Earth is in fact a globe and override everyday appearances of it being flat.

Now like that, Jesus was crucified 2000 years before modern medical science discovered endorphin pain killing hormones, as much or more powerful than morphine. Thus, only recent modern scientific knowledge of naturally produced endogenous pain killers has been able to give us the understanding and realization that during crucifixion Christ’s inner experience was painless.

Modern medical and holistic health care professionals have found that endorphins are naturally released when people experience sublime spiritual and/or pleasurable physical events, with such things as meditation and exercise; and pain, danger, and other forms of stress can also trigger natural endorphin secretion. So, we propose that Christ’s supremely sublime spiritual awareness triggered the secretion of ample endorphins for His experience of pain to be 100% eliminated.

FortuneFlourishingFun’s sister site/blog: FunInFitness.com, is also being launched to boldly explore how being Blissfit (totally sublime awareness and healthy physiology) Jesus performed miracles; and how we can truly follow Jesus by becoming Blissfit.

Jesus Suffered Pain
and Sacrificed Himself to Redeem Us

“I have gained salvation through my Lord Jesus Christ, not by my doing but by his …I did nothing but surrender and then from that experience stepping out in action (Established in the BEing of Christ I perform action)…not by meditating (though it is part of my life) or by “performing right action” (though it is part of my life that is more predominant now)…I did not set myself free…I was set free by the simple truth that the true prophets foretold hundreds of years before Yeshua came and what has been revealed to me directly by Yeshua and by God. It totally corresponds to the Bible and I have been expanded to understand such truth by God not by me.” ~ Christian Evangelist

Comment

Again, we invite you to comment on what, how, and why you agree or disagree with Christ suffering the torture of crucifixion to avenge God’s wrath for our sins and/or His glorious demonstration, being crucified and rising from the dead, that He didn’t suffer, and therefore that we are also inherently free from suffering.

Life’s Pool of Love Light

Inauguration A Nation Gathers
Praise song for the day.

Some live by love thy neighbor as thyself,
others by first do no harm or take no more
than you need. What if the mightiest word is love?

      Love beyond marital, filial, national,
love that casts a widening pool of light,
love with no need to pre-empt grievance.

In today’s sharp sparkle, this winter air,
any thing can be made, any sentence begun.
On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp,
praise song for walking forward in that light.

Above is the first and last five sentence transcript
of Jan. 20th inaugural poem by Elizabeth Alexander.

          The Mightiness of Love

President Bush’s (USA’s and allies’) preemptive attack on Iraq may make one wonder about the mightiness of love. But Jesus Christ, not preempting even the grievance of crucifixion, projected how mighty love can truly be. Being personified love, Jesus went through the cusp of death and back into life’s widening pool of love light; Divine unconditional love filled His human body with a joyful biochemistry invincible to pain.the-plain-of-auvers

God sending His Son to Earth to endure intense torture as a payment for human wrongdoing appreciates pain to an extremely high, unjust value. I dare say Christianity has turned God’s strategy to “save” humanity upside down. That is, Jesus demonstrating that humans are made in God’s image so that any intensity of discomfort, and even death, can be reversed…has been interpreted by Christianity as Jesus suffering in agony to amend what believers do wrong as well as dying for them so they may have eternal life.

Running through Life’s Pool of Love Light

Fun In Fitness conditions the human physiology to make any thing possible in the following way. First, running with the quality of love is exponentially easier than running with the weight of pain and strain. So Fun In Fitness takes advantage of that and conditions a body engaged in exercise with the refined quality of love, instead of conditioning it to put up with discomfort as one does while working out. Now the goal is to have all 50 trillion body cells functioning with the high quality and ease of love to naturally produce a corresponding biochemistry that can support any physical feat.

Practicing Fun in Fitness in my first Phoenix R ‘n R Half Marathon (Jan 18, 2009) I found myself coping with thousands of people ahead of me, thousands behind, and 15 on each side. Still, the experience taught me how to run with others and without grieving. Now I’m planning future marathon running when I can compete with the best in the front group. I will soon post a chart to graphically display my Fun-in Fitness progress.

As a devoted athlete, how might fun-in fitness revolutionize your sports goals?

In this post I propose that Jesus did not suffer pain and die in place of others but He reversed pain and death to demonstrate the value of human life being made in the image of God. As a devout Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, Deist, or otherwise what would you add or subtract to my meaning of Christ’s crucifixion/mission?

Melting into Bliss Like Jesus on the Cross

bluewaveFun-in conditioning is self-referral happiness or spontaneously giving priority to feeling you are the fullest happiness you’ve ever experienced as you do something. Then going forward all your 50 trillion body cells (team members) are being conditioned to function with that bliss. The more all one’s heart, mind or whole physiology functions in bliss, the more freedom one has to do what one wants to do. For example, with fun-in marathon conditioning I’m able to run faster and further, with full strength and agility, the more each and every cell in my physiology carries out its individual purpose with bliss. Consistent fun-in conditioning will melt anyone into bliss.

Fun-in marathon conditioning now has me joy running @ 5 mph, I can cover 10 quality miles in 2 hours. And I’m getting better because the high quality of my running pushes me faster and further. So during a 1 or 2 hour fun-in conditioning period I feel happier and stronger the more I run because each inhale, exhale, and stride are high quality. And if for my future 26.2 mile marathon runs, everyone of approximately 80,000 strides are also 100% beautiful and purposeful, my physiology will produce nothing but blissful (beautiful and purposeful) biochemistry.

irisesQuality fun-in conditioning pushes strength, speed and agility to grow on itself and become stronger, faster, and more agile with even better quality. Soooo, my goals for a 2 hour fun-in run are to first be able to cover 13.1 miles (1/2 marathon) and then 26.2 miles which would break the current marathon record of 2 hours and 4 minutes. Finally, in the long run, I plan to take an hour off the record and set a new one of 64 minutes.

Now at this point I don’t know how long it’s going to take to accomplish my goals but I do know they will be accomplished by virtue of a totally healthy heart and mind during each play (exercise) period or official marathon runs. I will soon be posting a Tally Graph to detail my progress.

The above discussion of quality fun-in conditioning also sheds light on how it could be possible that Jesus Christ did not feel pain during crucifixion. And that is, being as close to God as anyone could be (although since GOD IS OMNIPRESENT everyone is the same distance), the 50 trillion cells of His human physiology had to be conditioned by absolute joy (beauty and purpose) every moment of His life. And therefore Christ’s human physiology had an invincibly joyful biochemistry. Thus instead of pain, the sequential physical wounds He suffered during crucifixion brought him more and more heavenly bliss.

As a devout Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, or Deist how does this revelation of Christ not suffering pain during crucifixion make you feel?

Why Christian Bleepings Hit the Fan

An independent survey of Christians reflecting honestly about how they feel with the sanctity of their faith and scripture, would be astounding. Such inquisition would go a long way in explaining how the ex-christian.net web site and ex-Christian Pastors like Matt Oxley and Dan Silverman are good examples for why there’s a growing number of Christians losing faith.

Dan’s story must be personally trying for him and everyone involved. But to me it portrays Christianity’s festering disease, which like cancer is growing within itself as its churches and pastors devoutly preach ambiguous, bleeping, complicated, deceptive, stressful, truly unfounded etc… Bible ministries to the fertile fields of humanity, under the umbrella of their faithful souls being saved.

We can see part of what’s up in Christianity from ex-evangelical pastor and Biblical scholar Bart D. Ehrman writing: “I began to realize that rather than being an inerrant revelation from God, inspired in its very words (the view I had at Moody Bible Institute), the Bible was a very human book with all the marks of having come from human hands: discrepancies, contradictions, errors, and different perspectives of different authors living at different times in different countries and writing for different reasons to different audiences with different needs.”

Furthermore, as Miceal Ledwith, Biblical scholar and former adviser to the Pope says, “If you believe it is as easy for us to read and understand the New Testament as it is to read and understand the morning newspaper, then you would probably have to concede that this is so. But the Bible, even the New Testament, comes out of a time and culture that is as far removed from us today as it is possible to imagine. Its techniques of communication have little in common with the techniques of the New York Times or The Washington Post. It is far more close to the techniques used by fiction writers of genius in our own day, such as JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, or Jonathan Swift in former times.”

Thus, today’s Bible has lost sanctity because of the fact that stories may change significantly from just one person to another, let alone the Bible story, told with layers of symbolism, translated/interpreted over and over, from a hard to imagine culture 2000 years ago.

My humble opinion for why Christian bleepings are hitting the fan is that like the ancient Greek word for sin means misses the mark, modern Bible understanding and preaching severely miss the mark of how scripture should mingle with and support human life made in God’s image.

Now my concise history with Christianity and its founder goes like this: 45 years ago my Catholic Church attendance and Bible study at the elementary school had me going along with everything out of fear of God’s punishment in Hell. Then in high school I got to the point where I didn’t care if I went to Hell or not. And in college I innocently (by not getting involved with any fellowship or Bible study) opened my heart to Jesus. So it was, and has been, just Him and me.

Over the last 35 years Jesus has shown me that life in God’s image can be whatever I want. Or that humans are made in the image of God with free will to create anything, which Jesus demonstrated with His miracles. Jesus exemplified what’s possible for humans being made in God’s image, which is pure Love and Happiness (Heaven); and so of most importance for the Christian faith and Bible, there is no possible way that He could have suffered.

I’m proclaiming that Jesus Christ saying I’m the Way and the Truth and the Life (God), and only through Me can you be admitted into Heaven means we must go to Heaven through the Way and the Truth and the Life and not the name Jesus Christ. An individual name is an individual name that identifies the individual. Jesus’ ego was the cosmic ego of the Way and the Truth and the Life (God).

So people like Dan Silverman and Matt Oxley are a couple of the majority of Christians and ex-Christians who are the truly faithful. Because they are listening to their own heart instead of the dictates of a Christian pastor. I prophesy that modern Christian faith will soon be believing in one’s own heart. Because the human heart is made in the image of God and is therefore the home of the the Way and the Truth and the Life. Believing in one’s deep or truly heartfelt revelations is believing in Christ.

          Turn Christianity Right-Side Up

Believing Jesus suffered on the Cross is like believing the earth is flat. You see, I feel Christianity is upside down since Christians are coerced into believing Jesus suffered on the Cross to pay a price. I feel anything to do with suffering (experiencing pain) is anti-Christ since He saved every suffering person, or group of people, He encountered!. Also why would Jesus not, and how could He not, save himself from suffering?

Christianity claims that Jesus’ experiencing incredible pain and dying allows Almighty God to forgive His Son’s believer’s wrongdoing!? That proposition negates humanity’s free will accountability, or for one being responsible for his or her own thought and action. “Saved” Christians believe Jesus was paying the price of their sins by suffering and dying for them. And they can thereby slough off wrongdoing responsibility onto Jesus, like alcoholic Mel Gibson, who says he’s assured of getting to Heaven and his unsaved wife isn’t. Jesus suffering to pay the punishment price for the sins of those who accept Him as their personal savior is a pie in the sky fraud.

Moreover, that core upside down belief of Jesus suffering further deludes Christians into believing the backward advice of looking forward to heaven, after they die, as the greatest reward for their action in the present. But looking forward to results distracts one’s full enjoyment and effectiveness of what he or she does in the present. One thereby misses the Ralph Waldo Emerson boat, “The reward of a thing well done is having done it.” It’s ironic that when Christians finally see the righteous reality of a non-suffering Jesus demonstrating being an image of God, only then will they be able to enjoy their God-given present, the gift of today.

Like Emerson, I propose Heaven and Hell are in one’s present experience of good and bad respectively; and when we leave our body and are beyond time and space, Heaven and Hell will be the sum total of the good and bad weave that we’ve experienced as an image of God on Earth. How’s that for poetry?

Christ didn’t have modern medical science to describe the painkilling endorphin biochemistry He could produce when needed; and His mission was to demonstrate what is possible for humans being made in God’s image. Thus, like a magician performing, knowing He would resurrect and and being able to spontaneously create a physiological biochemistry hundreds of times more powerful than morphine, He enjoyed being crucified and dying.

Therefore, I proclaim that Christians truly following Jesus will use their God-given free will to choose to NOT suffer. Moreover, any atheist, agnostic, or otherwise can prove (seeing is believing) that God (omnipresent Pure Happiness/Heaven) exists by enjoying a corresponding happiness in their life on earth. The purpose of Funology Foundation, The Art and Science of Funology, and other proven programs I coach and/or show my clients, is to help people have maximum fun with Natural beauty and purpose (God) and enjoy the miracles of total health, wealth and wisdom.
